Woke up quite early today.. Fried one egg for myself to eat for breakfast… aiyah shld have fried 2.. it looks so pathetic.. how can be fulfilling for me.. aiyah nvm lah.. lazy to cook anyone anyway… watch “Joey” on my hard disk.. then wear all my clothes n prepare some biscuits into a plastic bag for lunch.. then off I go to Stockholm.. (I m technically not in Stockholm.. since my location, Sundbyberg, is like another city by itself.. looking at any map of Stockholm, u wont find my place..) so off I go… took the train to T-centralen.. then got off at one exit.. then anyhow walk walk.. wanted to go to Tourist Centre.. but not yet open til 10am.. now time is 9am.. oh ya forgot to mention, Stockholm n Sundbyberg at 8am on Saturdays are like a ghost town… there is no one at all one.. ok lah a few.. but can count on fingers one loh… unlike weekdays…
Temperature is -4 degrees celsius as u can see from the sign behind me.. but different signs often have different temperature readings.. so i m not very sure.. but it sure does feels like -4 to me now.. haha
hahaha I must be the only crazy one to get up so early on a Saturday morning… anyway as I was saying, I reach the T-centralen.. then came out n saw a very very big cathehedral… so damn big.. then I m tempted to go over there to take some pics which I did..
then anyhow walk walk.. then walk along the half frozen lake… very cold this morning but the lake not yet frozen but part of it seems icy.. I threw a stick onto it n was disappointed to hear a splash.. if it was a clank that means it is a frozen lake liao mah.. then snow may come mah.. becos the temp is cold enuff…
Guided Tour into City Hall
Met 3 Malaysians outside the City Hall.. requested one of them to help me take pics.. then began to tok to them already.. they r here for an 8 day programme with Ericsson.. n r going back today later.. decided to join them… they wanna see the City Hall so I join them loh.. costs 50SEK since I m student.. (60sek otherwise) for a guided tour.. tours must be guided since the city hall also contains the political office of Sweden so quite sensitive..
Blue Room
The guide mention that the architect won the right to design the City Hall building because his on paper is the most budget sabving, only 8 million kr.. but in the end when the building is completed it costs around 24 million kr…
The Blue Room isn’t blue… that’s becos the architect plan to have it Blue.. but then he saw that the red bricks look so nice that he decided to just keep the red bricks… n he didn’t bother to change the name of the room.. so everyone still calls it the Blue Room
Nobel Prize banquet held here.. Each person given only 60cm room to eat since space at the Blue Room is pretty limited… Stairs leading down to the Blue Room most frequently used.. the king n queen of Sweden will use the stairs to come down to greet the attendees of the banquet.. together with the Nobel Prize winners.. the architect in order to decide which material best to make the stairs so the walkers will feel comfortable n wont trip.. he made his wife wear high heels n a long gown to walk up n down diff stairs of diff materials so that he can decide on the best one… hahah.. there is a Star carved into the wall facing the stairs.. n those ppl walking down the stairs look at the Star so that they can maintain their posture… when walking down… The Star on the wall could be seen in this picture below: (sorrie not veyr clear but its located at the top part of the picture)
Picture of a Beer Delivery Guy in the City Hall
After the completion of City Hall, the architect asked the workers there to nominate their most liked person so that his pic will be hung in the City Hall in plain view for anyone who comes here to see.. the workers choose the beer delivery guy who delivers beer every morning by boat to the workers n Swedish likes beer… thus it is only natural that that guy is their favorite.. hahha
Political Chambers
There was a small room by the political chambers where the Swedish politicians meet to discuss national issues.. it was made for the female politicians in the past… they used to be the very minority.. thus during a break, the ladies will come to this small room to relax…but now.. abt the female politicians made up more than 50% of the group so they do not use that room anymore.. it became a room to display gifts given by other kings of other countries
Room of 100 Arches
This is a room where the ceiling has 100 archs carved into it… it is said that each arch represent one politician in the Swedish parliament..
French Room
Every Saturday abt 20 couples get married here.. very romantic place… can choose the short or long version of ceremony.. long version is 3 minutes while short one is 1 minute..
Anyone, Swedish or not, can get married here.. just register can already.. a 5 mth long waiting list though hahha… this room is called the French room because on its wall hung tapestry (very big ones) made by the French n given to the architect.. n he like it so much that when he realize that the original room could not fit it, he demoilish it n rebuilt one to fit it…
Gold Room
The whole room super duper big.. n the walls are made of mosaic pieces of real pure gold,,, so it is super duper ex wall lah.. this is the place where the food is served to the Blue Room during Nobel Prize banquet… after which the food is cleared for this room to be a Ballroom for ppl to dance… there were some misestimates by the architect resulting in the top most part of the one wall being cut off.. n one of the designs on that wall is that of a prince I tink…n his head was missing becos of not enuff space… but strangely in history the prince that designed is supposed to represent was beheaded by the Danish in a war against them… as can be seen in this picture below.. look at the part where the ceiling meets the wall... (a bit blur though the picture)
Shopping around T-centralen
Saw a lot of souvenoir shops along the street to Gustav Adolf Torg.. was informed by the Malaysians that there r a lot of cheap souvenoirs shop there.. so decided to venture there.. but b4 went to the Tourist Centre under Kulturehuest to kop more brochures…
Saw a sign “Zoo” then follow it , then saw a shop selling Chinese product in a small alley… then came out saw what the Zoo is all abt.. turns out its just a pet shop… diaonz..
Went into one souvenoir shop.,.. then saw a pack of “Stud Underwear” hahah.. from the diagram it seems to mean this Underwear can fit any guy’s.. ermm hemm u noe wat lah… hahah..
then also saw a pack of Elephant Underwear… it has a elephant head as the underwear ..
n then the trunk of the elephant is used to contain wat lah.. hor.. u noel ah hor..hahha.. then its time to go to Universitet to meet LL n Dom at 1:30pm… diaonz leh they all assume I will go to sch to use Internet so send me an email.. telling me to meet at 1:30pm… luckily in the end I sms them n Dom called me…
