Day 2: Part 1: Frederiksborg Palace
Took some pictures of Boo Feng's place b4 i leave for my excursion today.. Boo Feng is my host for this Denmark trip.. a very nice guy.. haha just like me.. nice guy too. :p He has an American roommate who is cool with me staying over for a few days too.. The table with the Soviet Union flag hanging over it belongs to his roommate..
Their beds..
the kitchen is just a few steps away from their worktable.. i sleep yah u can say in the kitchen but there isnt any clear distinction.. ok lah.. i slept beside a microwave oven.. i shld be in a kitchen then.. haha.. there u see my mattress on the floor in the kitchen
the neighbourhood..
Jl, LL say Boo Feng n I look alike... do we?
JL, LL , dom n me took a train to Hillerod where we could find the Frederiksborg palace.. one of the recommeneded sights to see.. while at the train station, we met up with 2 other ppl, Alice n Xiao Ming..JL's friends.. we travelled together..
The town of Hillerod..
Riding a hippo sculpture..
The palace across the lake..
Along the road to the palace..
A group photo...
Entrance to the Frederiksborg Slot.. (slot in danish means castle, slott in swedish means castle) Xiao Ming (XM) says that the castle was burned down a long time ago n Carlsberg provided the funding to rebuild it.. thus as a result of this sponsoring, Carlsberg was given the privilege to use the symbol of the Danish crown in their Carlsberg logo.. several other Danish brand also have the Danish crown in their logo.. could be due to other sponsorship or stuff like that..
The castle was surrounded by a outer moat..
Here is the next moat (an inner one)
Entrance to the castle grounds..
The innermost moat surrounding the castle itself..
Entrance to the castle costs 40DKK.. n lockers to put out bags n coats r free.. u deposit 20DKK coins which will be returned after use.. cool..
The Castle chapel..
Donation box..
The rest of the castle showcases collections from Danish aristocrats and royalty their room and their belongings.. i tink this is more of a musuem than a castle but its still very nice with all these collections.. in fact the interior is better than VErsailles palace in Paris since we r allowed to walk through the room n take a closer look at the exhibits instead of just watching from the side like in Versailles..
A rather plain room..
A nice corridor leading to the room above..
SOme of the rooms r really beautiful..
There seems to be a sensor on the pillow on the bed.. haha maybe to prevent someone to jump n rest on the bed..
More beautiful rooms..
Playing or rather posing with the harp..
A clavichord?.. i m not so sure myself.. definitely not called a piano.. learned this from my Science of Music class back in Singapore..
Infinite rooms..
Astrology room..
Room where banquets were held ..
Antique clocks..
At the top floor of the castle, there r exhibits of modern Danish arts..
At the first floor, there is a playroom for kids as well..
Royal Gardens..
The small boat pickup point to bring ppl to the other side of the lake where the town of Hillerod is.. dont noe if its included in admission fee.. we didnt ask so we would never noe.. haha
There are small maze like patterns in the royal gardens... they r actually shaped like a crown..
chilling out in the sun..
A panoramic shot of the frederiksborg slot..
after this, we proceeded to the Rosenborg Castle in Helsingor..
