Taking the tunnelbana in Stockholm, Sweden.. one have to be sure where the line will be terminating or else u may take the wrong route.. the train lines mostly split up n terminate at different stations.. so altho u r taking the correct color line.. u not necessary will reach yer destination if u take the train that terminates at the other end... :p

Grafitti is everywhere in Sweden.. as can be seen below in these trains.. (focus on the grafitti not on the bald guy :p)

Image hosted by Putfile.comIf staying long term here, its advisable to purchase a monthly ticket.. it may be expensive at 600SEK (around 150 Sing dollars) but consider the fact that travel between any stations costs a fixed rate of 30SEK (7.50 Sing).. and doing some calculations abt how much i would travel, i would say this is a really good deal.. to use the card, one just have to swipe the card at the barrier to enter n to come out of the barrier.. there's no need to swipe liao, just push the barrier n it will open for u.. This card is cool in that it allows unlimited free travel on buses n trains in Stockholm for one month.. to use it in bus, one just have to show the bus driver...

there r other cheap ways to travel oither than this card --> smt like a strip of tickets which the ppl in the counter will stamp smt on it to indicate it being used or smt like that but its more ex than the card in long term....

Keep Right!!! (if u dont intend to move and let the escalator move u up)

Swedish really do right when they dont intend to move on the escalator.. smt which Singaporeans still have a lot to learn from.. a very helpful gesture.. ppl in a rush could rush up faster w/o idiots blocking their way... and also the escalator railings move faster than the escalators.. so if u just put yer hand on teh railing on the ride.. u will find yer hand being pulled much further up or down in a while...

There are two types of trains for the Tunnelbana..
one that looks much older...

smt during off peak period.. the trains that will come to the stations are shorter and will stop for only a while.. so it will be safer to keep within the "shorter train marking" on the floor as shown in the picture below... u could also keep track of how long b4 the next train comes and whether it goes the route that u wanna go by the digital indicator hanging from the ceiling as shown below...

If u r ever lost in Stockholm, always look out for the T sign indicating presence of Tunnelbana stations nearby..

The J in this picture stands for another type of train .. the Pendaltag-commuter trains.. not the Tunnelbana.. there are a number of trams, trains etc.. in Stockholm.. i only tried the Tunnelbana b4... :p but i tink there all could be covered by the monthly ticket discussed just now...

the map below is a more detailed one showing all the routes of Pendaltag, Tunnelbana and Trams.. not very clear though... download n expand to have a better look... :p

Its not uncommon to have ppl coming to ask for money from u while in the train.. simply ignore them n they wont bother u.. usually a woman in a headscarf will walk around holding a picture of a family in poor condition n some Swedish words in a card.. n ask for money from seat to seat.. and then alighting at the next station to proceed to the next cabin...

ppl basking in the train is also a common sight.. one that i saw is of a two man team.. one would play the violin.. then the other one will walk around holding out his tromboline for donations..
