Jag Tycker Inte Om Snö

which means.. I dont like snow that much liao.. (no no the "liao" i add in there is no Swedish-Singlish translation for "liao") ... so cold... minus 3 degrees today.. floor is so slippery.. snow has stop falling.. smt its drizzling snow..

almost fell a couple of times but heng didnt.. or else super paiseh.. haha.. good thing i got this pari of Kickers boots b4 coming.. anyway a piece of advice for anyone tinking of wearing SAF combat boots to countries that r snowing.. good luck.. the grip isnt very strong.. most likely will slip.. Dom could testified to that.. last time in Kiruna.. he fell a number of times..

anyway a correction abt my Swedish 101 post earlier in the day... after coming back from my basic Swedish course just now at 9pm.. (the course is every Wednesday 5pm to 9pm .. super xiong n tiring..), the teacher, Berit said that dig is pronounced as day... so
Jag ålskar dig shld be read as "Your Oscar Day" n that means "I LOVE U" ... hehehe..
ö is pronunced as "er" ...

saw an interesting road sign (the one below) the other day while i was out... guess wat it means.. haha no no.. it is not in conjunction with Valentine's Day celebration over here...

It basically tells cyclist to think about others (be considerate).. tänk på oss = tink abt others... the others in this case refer to the loving couple, child, elderly n the dog.. haha

Stockholm is a very bicycle friendly country.. There r designated bicycle path in teh city, parks.. almost everywhere..

This shows availability of bicycle n pedestrain paths..

Road signs show how far the next place is so that cyclists can pace themselves..

Notice that the Swedes use commas to represent the decimal point.. in the sign above.. Karlberg Station is 0.1km away.. but they put 0,1.. n 1.000.000 means 1 million.. 1,00kr means 1 kroners (equivalent of 25 Singapore cents)..

The button to press for the red man to change to green man..

Mailboxes... Yellow ones r for letters outside Stockholm n overseas.. Blue ones r for letters inside Stockholm..

What is outrageous is that it costs 10kr to mail a letter overseas .. regardless of where.. it is a fixed price of abt S$2.50.. there is a weight limit as well.. so xiong.. mailing a letter is like i can eat a plate of meepok at home.. hehe.. smt shops sell postcards of Sweden for only 1kr (S$0.25)... diaonz.. the stamps r more ex than the postcards.. thats the first time i had such experience...

It is common to find small lit candles outside restaurants like the one below.. it is said that during winter, day is short just abt a few hours, (when i arrived, the sun sets at 3pm.. very depressing haha.. now a bit longer.. sets at abt 430pm) so ppl cant see the Open sign on their door.. so they lit a candle to tell ppl they r open..

The days get longer as it appraoches summer.. it is said during June in Sweden, the sun never sets even at 12 midnight.. thats why its called Midnight Sun.. haha we shall see then.. Snow does help in lighting up the landscape a bit at night.. Previously w/o snow, Stockholm feels very dark at night.. now the snow reflects the lights around, brightening the night view of the city a bit...
