Grocery Shopping in Stockholm
Living alone out here in Sweden means that i have to cook my own meal n to be able to do a good one, we need groceries!!.. well personally for me, i would only go to one store.. NETTO!!
after discovering how much cheaper the stuff over here r compared to other stores like Hemkop n Coop Forum..
There r a number of branches of NETTO in Stockholm.. the one nearest to my home is the one at Fridhemsplan.. the stuff that could be found r pretty limited but they r cheap.. if u want more varieties, other supermarket such as Dags Liv provide them.. but of course at a higher price..
stuff here r not really comparable to Singapore prices.. as in most of them r of course more expensive.. the unique feature of supermarkets in Sweden is that for every item, they will be 2 price tags.. the Yellow one for comparison n the White one is the actual price..
For example. for the bottle of Senap on the right, it costs 24.90 kr n to compare with other brands of Senap or smaller bottle.. they will list the price of it per kg which is 55.28kr in the yellow tag.. Senap is smt like mustard sauce n taste like wasabe.. very choking n shiok ah!!..
At Fridemsplan Dags Liv, there is an escalator leading up to the next storey.. n the innovative supermarket places sweets, candies n other stuff along the slow escalator to tempt shoppers who r bored with the slow speed of the escalator to buy more stuff..
Some supermarkets have these machines which pay u back money for recycling plastic n glass bottles... abt 1kr to 2kr for a large 1 litre plastic or glass bottle.. they also pay abt 50 ore for cans.. (note 100 ores make up 1 kroner... so ores r like cents where kroners r like dollars) the other time, LL, Dom n me were in the Hemkop of Ahlens shopping centre.. we saw a gy with a very huge sack of cans .. n just standing tehre for the whole night putting in the cans for recycling n making a quick buck at the same time..
At times when i walk around town, i can see signs that says..
"Slut Rea!!" well.. rea in swedish means sale.. so does it mean "Sluts for sale?" unfortunately no.. :p slut in swedish means close.. slut rea == closing sale.. :P
This packet of milk costs 6kr.. abt S$1.50... cheap or not? haha its 1 litre.. :p bought it to cook carbonara sauce for my pasta.
